Sit-On-Top Kayaks were developed in the past for leisure use, as derivatives from surfboards. Ordinarily the seat of a sit-on-top is slightly above water level, so the center of gravity for the paddler is higher than in a traditional kayak and similar to a surfboard with a groove to sit on. To compensate for the center of gravity, a sit-on-top is often wider than a traditional kayak of the same length. |
